My Summer To Do List

So I have been reading about everyone's summer to do list and I thought I would post mine.  If I post it then maybe I will get it all done!!!!  (Hopefully :0)

1.  Sew the corners of the cushions on my library benches.  I have these benches in my room
My  little kiddos keep playing with the corners and they have become frayed really bad!

2.  Make a clip chart!!!  I am very excited about this one.  I have my signs made, now I just need to print and laminate and attach to the ribbon.  I saw one hanging from ribbons!  (I think it was on Miss Kindergarten's blog) Too cute.  I will post a picture once it is done.
3.  Make curtains for my classroom windows - they need a serious pick me up!  This is a picture of last summer before I started to put my room back together, but you can see the plain boring windows.  Won't blue curtains look nice!!!!!!

4.  Make dividers for my library books that are in storage while not in use (you know -- Christmas books, Thanksgiving books, Valentine's Day books, etc. etc.

I was inspired by this picture

I have mine painted and ready to put labels on!

Here they are ready to be painted!  Took 4 coats of paint!!!!

5.  Finish labeling my book baskets with new labels and labels on back of books to match!  I started it in the middle of the school year (last year) and never got finished!

6.  Make new numbered labels for my math tubs.  I have been doing math tubs for 4 years now and I want and need new labels.  I have them done, they just need printing and put on the tubs!

7.  Recover my teacher chairs on rollers.  They are an ugly yellow color and they need to be a nice blue color to match my classroom!

8.  Make (again!) a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree.  My last one was put in storage while I was teaching fifth grade and then third grade.  When I took it out of storage it just fell apart!  I have been wanting to make a new one now for 3 years.  I have been saving my oatmeal containers and I almost have enough to get the job done.  I will post pictures when it is done.

9.  Redo my word wall!  I have been seeing awesome posts on word walls - this one is my inspiration

I saw this one on the blog Chalk Talk.
I can't decide if I want a white background like this one or a blue background with black lines.  I have my letters cut and laminated.  The consonants are a turquoise blue and the vowels are red.  My pictures are ready to go (need laminated)  I am using pictures that match the ones in my ABC book.

10.  I also want to redo my workstation boards (math and literacy)

12.  Making new shapes  (circle, square, rectangle, etc) out of poster board and painting them and then hanging them up in the room.  Just like I did my circles for my color caterpillar shown here.

11.  A few minor little things to do as well.  Like putting my star words on rings, making small yesterday, today and tomorrow cards to fit in my calendar pockets.

OMG I am tired from just making this list!  But my hope is that by putting it on my blog it will help to keep me accountable!!!!  I will post pictures of all of my finished jobs when I post my back to school pics of my classroom!

CVC Card Game Freebie

So I think I am finally getting the hang of how to post freebies.  I had to go back and change my font.  When I use my "fun" fonts it does not download correctly --- go figure!  So I have a fun CVC card game to share with all of you -- enjoy!

My first freebie --- I hope

I have been blogging for almost a year now and I have been trying to figure out how to put downloads onto my blog to share with all of you wonderful teachers out there who have so generously shared with everyone out there!!  so here is my attempt at an apple pattern.  Many times when I try to upload a document to my google docs it comes out distorted????  Anyone have any tutorials that could help me I would be so so appreciative.  Okay so I am going to try again.  I went back into google docs and I think I have fixed the issue.  I feel so silly - this document is nothing to get excited about - it is just the first one that I got to download without being distorted!  So click on this link  apple pattern

Flower Power

We had a lot of fun making our math facts flowers.  This proved to be a challenge for my students, but we love a challenge!

Spring Is Here!

After reading many books on the signs of spring we used interactive writing to label our pictures for our bulletin board. Our robins are made from our hand prints and we also made "dandy" lions and daffodils!

During our study of the farm and farm animals we read the original book of Mrs. Wishy-Washy.  My kiddos just loved the story and wanted to write a wall story about the book.  So,   here it is!  Enjoy!

I recently had shoulder surgery and was away from the classroom for a few days.  When I returned this was my sweet welcome!  Brought a little tear to my eye!

Somewhere Over The Rainbow!

We has so much fun on Friday celebrating St. Patrick's Day.  We did it with rainbow style!

These wonderful recording sheets can be found at Golden Gang Kindergarten

I also made these wonderful rainbow cupcakes that I found on Google images and they are all over Pinterest as well!  I opted not to do the blue layer like you see in this picture.  For a little bit more fun and excitement I used yellow sprinkles for the top and told my students that it was the gold at the end of the rainbow.  My students were so amazed when they peeled the paper and saw the rainbow colors on the wrapper!!

Green Eggs and Ham

Our Green Eggs and Ham was a big hit - they even asked for more!!!!!!

Gotta say in this picture it looks kind of yucky!!

As we were making our green eggs and ham we were looking at a page of pictures to help us sequence the steps and then I had them cut out the pictures and glue them down in order!

Chubby Little Bunny Wall Story

Here is one of our winter wall stories:

Some of the pictures are hard to see - I choose 1 student a day to "illustrate" our interactive writing piece for the day

Love this illustration!

We are required to post "We can" statements for any work that we display for the hall way.  Since all of my work that I display is done thru interactive writing I posted this blanket statement that covers any type of work that I display in the hall.  Of course it is not just out there for display.  My students use our interactive writing pieces (wall stories) for read the room workstation!  Love it when I can use one lesson for more than one purpose!!!

Ladybug Math

I needed to review our science topic of ladybugs, review addition and put up a February bulletin board (the ladybugs are made out of mostly hearts) and voila I did it all with this one activity.  As we made our ladybugs we reviewed the parts of a ladybug, then during math time we added the spots and wrote an addition sentence to match our spots!!! The results was this adorable bulletin board.
